What is EPS?
Lifoamâ„¢ foam coolers are made from 100% recyclable expanded polystyrene (EPS). EPS is a versatile, lightweight material that can be manufactured into a variety of products which provide high-performance yet economical support to many industries. No CFCs (chlorofluorocarbons) are used to manufacture EPS and unlike other materials, EPS does not degrade or leach any substances into groundwater.
Expanded polystyrene is molded in a two step process. First, raw resin beads are expanded with steam and cured prior to transfer to the mold. Second, the expanded beads are steamed into the mold to form the product. This process creates an insulating product that is strong, yet lightweight.
How to Recycle
Expanded polystyrene can be recycled at any of 400 locations across the United States and Canada. On average, 88 million pounds of EPS has been recycled each of the last 5 years! Additionally over 3.3 million people gained access to EPS recycling last year, building on years of growth. To locate the recycling center closest to you, please use the map below.
